At Inotiv, we offer customized in vivo services for implantable medical device programs. From the initial planning phases to the final study report, our experienced staff members are adept at providing guidance and support. Because every medical device project is unique, we tailor the project to your specific needs based upon the goals of the study.

We currently offer a variety of histological techniques, including paraffin histology (standard and oversized slides), special stains, immunohistochemistry, and various decalcification procedures. We are willing to support your study by collaborating with outside providers to perform plastic histology techniques and microCT imaging. Additionally, our scientists have many years of experience performing computerized histomorphometry with quantification of various parameters for medical device studies. Our histopathology reports clearly demonstrate the methods, results, and conclusions, with high-quality, annotated images included within the report to illustrate significant findings and to demonstrate typical healing responses.

Inotiv supports medical device studies from early phase non-GLP to GLP safety and/or efficacy assessments. Our dedicated medical device staff provides specialized techniques such as:

  • Targeted implant retrieval at necropsy
  • Non-standard tissue trimming
  • High-resolution radiography guided tissue trimming
  • Paraffin histology
