To initiate an order for Teklad custom research diets or ingredients, choose one of the following:
Be prepared to provide the following information:
The minimum order for diets and most ingredients is three kg. The minimum order for vitamin and mineral mixes is 500 grams.
Diets are custom made to fill each order, and are not inventoried. Diets are usually shipped from our production facility ten business days after an order is placed. Transit time depends on the type of delivery method used (regular ground, overnight, etc.). Weight and delivery method affect shipping costs, that are typically added to the invoice.
Outside the USA or Canada
Most European countries, Israel, and Mexico have Inotiv affiliates available for help in placing an order. For other countries, prepayment is required via credit card or electronic transfer. It is highly recommended that a customer be aware of any necessary permits and conditions of importation. Trading companies are often very helpful in this regard.
Prices are dependent on formulation (ingredients and complexity), quantity ordered, final product form (cylindrical pellet or non-pellet which ranges from free-flowing to paste-like), and special packaging, processing, or analysis. Contact customer service about current prices for existing product codes, including diet ingredients. Terms are net 30 days. A nutritionist in technical services can assist you with price estimates for new formulas.
Standard packaging includes a small box (9 x 9 x 11 inches) that will fit up to five kg, a medium box (10 x 10 x 15 inches) that will fit up to ten kg, and a larger heavy-duty box (13 x 13 x 21 inches) which is primary used when there is vacuum packaging, and for some powder diets and ingredients. Every container also includes a three-mil poly liner. Vacuum packaging and specific quantity packaging are also available at additional cost. Vacuum packaging will typically reduce the amount of diet fit into a box.
Most custom research diets do not withstand autoclaving; however, we can arrange for qualified diets to be irradiated; additional fees apply. The irradiation dose range is two to five MRad, or 20-50 kGy. Lead time will be extended by two weeks relative to non-irradiated diet. Vacuum packaging may be helpful in reducing irradiation-induced peroxide formation in high fat diets, or to protect certain diet components. A nutritionist in Technical Services can assist you in determining if a formula is suitable for irradiation.
Specific chemical analyses can be arranged upon request. The fees from independent testing labs are added to the invoice.
We are careful about the information exchanged with others, and we will consider formal agreements if necessary.
